DOE
and Regulatory Compliance
Waste Management Oversight - Provided Technical Services to CH2M
Hill to support development of the River Protection Project (RPP)
System Plan, the Hanford Tank Waste Supplemental Treatment Technologies
Report, and Hanford Tank Waste Treatment Baseline.
Transuranic Waste Acceptance Criteria Expertise – Provided
pre-audit oversight compliance verification to BNFL Inc. at the
Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Facility for the Waste Isolation
Pilot Plant (WIPP) Waste Acceptance Criteria.
RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Expertise – Developed and maintained two separate
RCRA Permit Applications and an Interim Status Document for waste management facilities
at the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project (AMWTP). The AMWTP is currently the largest
DOE project for the shipment of historic mixed waste to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
Waste operations at the AMWTP include the retrieval of buried waste, characterization of waste,
and treatment of waste to meet the WIPP Waste Acceptance Criteria. AMWTP RCRA Permits included
permitted storage, repackaging, sizing, absorption of liquid, decanting of liquid, neutralization
of liquid, and supercompaction of waste. Provided implementation RCRA requirements for ensuring
compliance and obtaining authorization from the State of Idaho Department of Environmental Quality
and DOE to operate the waste management units.
